Marney Pup
Marney pup was found one morning, apparently dropped off at CWW Feed Store.
This small puppy had no tail, and we thought perhaps she was a breed that didn’t get tails.
At the foster’s home, she noticed that Marney didn’t eat well and slept a lot. She also seemed to pee and poop always at the same time, like together. At one point, the foster noticed she was so still and didn’t seem to be breathing. So she handled the pup and got her awakened.
We decided a vet visit was needed sooner than later. Upon examination at the vet, it disclosed that Marney had a severe birth defect of her elimination tract. She did not seem to have a separate opening for urine and for fecal matter.
The vet explained to us that this little pup was unable to get adequate nutrition to sustain life. The pup also seemed to be in pain. Unfortunately, we had to euthanize her instead of her suffering a painful prolonged death.
Our volunteers always suffer with these type of cases. Never an easy decision to make and painful to carry out.
